like .us, .uk. Before buying your domain just check which domain is suitable for
you. ".com" and ".net" are common and popular, ".org"
is for organization, ".info" is for information website, and ".us",
".uk" are specific to the region. If you are registering a domain name
for your website as "www.toys4kids.com", and other domains with the same
name like "www.toys4kids.net" or "www.toys4kids.org" are still
available to the public. So if you want block other domains (like ".net",
".org"), you also have to buy those domains.
You have to pay for each domain you are buying. If you purchased
.com and .net domains, but you are hosted your website only in .com domain. If a
user types your website address with .net domain, it won't show your website.
If you want to show your website even the user enters .net domain, then you can
forward to the .com domain. This is called domain forwarding. If your website become
popular this domain blocking is very important, otherwise somebody else will register
the other domain with same name, when user coming to your website types the domain
wrongly, then you will loose your customer.
Free Domains! Even you can keep your WebPages without registering
a domain name. Some websites like
Google, Yahoo!,
Brinkster and lot more giving free sub domain. In this website you can't
get a domain name like "www.toys4kits.com", but you will get a sub domain
like "www.toys4kits.googlepages.com" or "www.toys4kits.brinkster.net".
This address will look like "www.YourSiteName.ProviderName.com", this
is called sub domain name. But website like Yahoo! is not giving sub domain also,
they will give you name like "www.geocities.com/YourSiteName" and you
can place your HTML file like "www.geocities.com/yoursitename/home.html".
This is called sub directory.
So, you can get a paid domain name or a free sub domain name
very easily. Once you have registered your domain name the next thing is you have
