Cont. of Host you Website!
You can keep your files in your own Server, then what is the
advantage to host your files in some host provider's server and paying monthly?
I have listed some reasons why you should not have your own server,
- First thing keeping your own server is too costly.
- You have to buy all hard wares, OS and other required soft wares for your server.
- 24/7 high bandwidth internet connection to your server.
- Installing firewall and Antivirus software to protect your server.
- Taking back up of your website in a regular interval.
- Maintenance of the Server.
- Backup power for your server.
- Running your server with out down time.
Because of these reasons,
it is better to host your website in some Host Provider's Server, and pay them
monthly. Host Providers will make use of a single server for many websites, that's
why they are charging less compare to the expense of keeping your own server.
If you want reduce,
(1) Disk space
(2) Data transfer rate
(3) Page loading time of your web pages, you should not create
your web pages with lot of images, animations, background images. And if you want
to place some images which is available on internet (like Google Logo, Yahoo! Logo),
don't keep those images in your server, instead of just give link to the image
location in the HTML code, it will load the images from the Google or Yahoo! web
server instead of your server. So that you can reduce the disk space and also the
data transfer rate, because you are not loading those images from the server where
you hosted your website.
Where you can host your website?
There are lot organizations providing servers to host your website.
Yahoo!
also giving you hosting options for 12 dollars to 40 dollars. They also provides
you free business Email Id's (Email Id's with your domain name) and also
tools to build your website. And
Brinkster is providing hosting plans form 3 dollars to 18 dollars. If you
want to get, other host providers list, search in Google for "Web Host Providers",
you will get lot and lots of Server providers. But the thing is you have to choose
a good Server Provider. If you want to search in Google for "Web Host Providers
List", click the below Google Search button.
Even you can host your website for free. When you are registering for a free sub
domain (to know about free Domain Name, visit Domain Name
page), they also give you some space in the server to host your files for free.
Only thing is you will have more restriction while you are going for free hosting.
I have listed some of the restrictions and problems with free web hosting,
- Less disk space.
- Minimum data transfer.
- Hourly data transfer limit.
- File type restrictions.
- POP up Ads.
- Ads inside your page.
- More loading time.
- No Database.
- Losing your Sub Domain Name - If you are hosting your site in host provider's
server, they may close the free service at any time. Then you will loose your sub
domain name (i.e., if you hosted your site for free. then, you will get a sub domain
name like "www.YourSiteName.HostProviderName.com"). So, when they close
your account, you have to get a new website address (Domain Name like "www.YourSiteName.com")
for your website. But, bringing the old visitors to your new website is very difficult.
